With the new FICA scores going into effect (trans union this month, equifax in the spring and experian not yet announced) all bets seem to be off. The "money experts" seem to agree that having no more then 10 percent of your available credit being used is the best way to go. And that credit issuers will probably close accounts with 0 balances that credit card holders are not using to limit their liability. It’s anyone’s guess how long they will let them sit on the books with no use. Maybe make small purchases with the unused cards that you would be making anyway and just pay them off over the next 30-60 days?
